Speaking of television, LITTLE WHITE LIE as you know, aired in Ireland recently and was available online for 21 days for everyone else to watch. Although it had some streaming/software issues, I was lucky enough to see the full movie and although it copped some pretty nasty reviews, I thought it was quite cute, funny and enjoyable to watch. Both Elaine and Andrew were great in their respective roles; so what those reviewers were on about I'll never know. Simple light-hearted entertainment isn't as acceptable nor enjoyable anymore apparently

For all who didn't get to see it or couldn't due to those streaming/software issues, let's hope that despite it's flogging in the press, it still gets picked up and is released on DVD soon. Will keep you posted if I hear anything.

Those of you lucky enough to be living in Ireland and who happen to be fans of Elaine Cassidy will get to see her new comedy LITTLE WHITE LIE, which will air on RTÉ One on Monday 4th August at 9:30pm.

Although there is no definite release date outside of Ireland as yet, there are ongoing negotiations with international sales agents so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before one of them snaps it up to show on television in the UK and further abroad!

Despite rumours floating around the internet about actors being replaced and more recently, Australian actress Stephanie McIntosh getting a call back for the 'lead' in the new CBS horror/drama HARPER'S ISLAND, I can confirm Elaine is still the lead in the series, which is excellent news for all Elaine Cassidy fans

Confirmation to come on Wednesday, but we have news that Elaine's new US TV series, HARPER'S ISLAND looks likely for a midseason pickup

Here is an excerpt from The Hollywood Reporter:

In addition to "Eleventh Hour" and "Worst Week," CBS also ordered the dramas "The Mentalist," starring Simon Baker; "The Ex List," starring Elizabeth Reaser (formerly "Mythological Ex"); and the Jon Turteltaub-directed "Harper's Island"; and the Jay Mohr-starring comedy "Project Gary" (formerly the untitled Ed Yeager project).

Although CBS wouldn't specify which series are picked up for fall and which for midseason, "Harper's Island" -- a serialized story about a group of friends terrorized on an island off the Seattle coast -- is said to be for midseason.

Little White Lie is a TV film developed by Element Pictures in conjunction with RTE. Written by Barry Murphy and Stuart Carolan, the entire production took place in Ireland. It is due to be aired in Spring 2008.

This romantic comedy revolves around Barry, a down on his luck actor whose life and career has fallen to bits since he was dumped by his highflying girlfriend. When his agent Malcolm and his brother John, a psychiatrist, try to get him out of his slump by advising him to lie to women about what he does for a living, it all starts to get a little more complicated than Barry would have hoped for.

I've just found out Elaine will be a part of the cast of a new feature length drama called LITTLE WHITE LIE set to air over the summer on RTÉ.

'Little White Lies', a feature-length drama written by Stuart Carolan ('Navan Man') and Barry Murphy ('Après Match'), will be broadcast over the summer.

Produced by Element Films, 'Little White Lies' follows Barry (Andrew Scott), an actor whose life and career are in the doldrums since he was dumped by his girlfriend. Elaine Cassidy ('Disco Pigs', 'A Room with a View') is among the cast.

Not much is known about the series as yet, so stay tuned and keep watching this space .....

UPDATE: The title is actually LITTLE WHITE LIE, not LITTLE WHITE LIES as RTÉ has stated.

Turns out I did have the audio file of the play all along. Silly me didn't look at the bottom of the email mh8582 sent me where a sneaky link to an mp3 file had been placed

Member mh8582 sent me an email with info on a radio play Elaine did recently called 'Blood, Sweat & Tea' which aired on BBC Radio 4 on Friday 4th April at 9pm. Sadly I've missed it for obvious reasons and the BBC Radio 4 website no longer has it available to listen to nor do they have it archived. Member Lou and myself tried scouring the internet to see if someone uploaded a recording of it, but we haven't had any luck finding it, so if you do happen to come across, it, make sure to let us know

Although we were unlucky in finding the play, I did however find a picture of Elaine at the microphone from the recording, which you can see below and in the GALLERY.

Thanks to the detective work of Lou, a new interview with Stephen Lord has been found on the Salford Star website which includes some interesting info on a project he and Elaine are in the midst of collaborating on:

EXTRACT "... he was off to America to sort out an animation project he’s got on the front burner, called Getting On, which he’s done with Salford writer, Tony Flynn.

“It’s about family life, we’ve made a taster with Elaine Cassidy, Chris Hargreaves and Paul Nicholls and I like to think it’s on the pulse” he enthuses “It’s something we’re looking at putting on tv at the end of 2009 if anyone’s got the balls to pick it up.”"

I've got this info set under 'rumours' since it hasn't been fully confirmed yet and it's still early days, but since it came from an interview with Stephen himself, it looks on the cards Elaine will be a character in the series .... so fingers crossed for those ... erm ... 'manly things' Stephen mentions above

Elaine is set to star in a new horror-inspired TV series for CBS entitled HARPER'S ISLAND, which also stars Ryan Merriman (Comanche Moon) & aussie actress Samantha Noble (All Saints).

- Elaine Cassidy, Ryan Merriman and Samantha Noble are set to star in CBS' drama presentation "Harper's Island."

"Island," from CBS Par and director Jon Turteltaub, is a horror story that unfolds over the course of a season as a group of friends meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding.

Merriman (CBS' "Comanche Moon") and Australian-born Noble will play the groom and the bride, while the Irish-born Cassidy will play the groom's childhood friend with a tragic past.

Although not much is known about the series as yet, it looks like an interesting project for Elaine and we'll hopefully have more details about her character as well as the series itself soon, so stay tuned

UPDATE: I've just got word from the lovely webmistress of the Ryan Merriman Fansite and the Official Ryan Merriman Wesbite who can confirm they are currently filming the presentation (aka Pilot) in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada, so fingers, toes and everything else crossed it will be successful and picked up for the back half of the fall season
